What percentage do I keep leasing on?

You keep 82% of gross linehaul. The deduction is a flat 18% — 13% for lease-on, which covers authority, insurance and compliance, and 5% for dispatch. That is the whole deduction. There is no separate trailer rental, no admin fee and no per-load charge appearing on the settlement afterward.

Is the 18% taken from gross or net?

Gross linehaul. We say that plainly because "percent of net" is how a 18% deduction quietly becomes 28%. Your 82% is calculated on the linehaul the load actually pays, before any of our costs come out. Accessorials such as detention and layover pass through to you.

Is dispatch forced?

Is factoring required?

No. Factoring is a genuinely optional 3% add-on. Take it and you are paid the day the load delivers instead of waiting on broker net-30 or net-45 terms, which puts your total deduction at 21% and your share at 79%. Skip it and you keep the full 82%, paid when the broker pays.

We share our MC and DOT numbers with drivers during the application process, and with brokers during carrier setup. Do I need my own authority to lease on?

Accepted Answer

No. Leasing on means running under our operating authority — that is what the 13% lease-on portion covers, along with cargo and liability insurance and the DOT compliance work. If you already hold your own MC, you do not need any of that and dispatch alone is 5%.
